Union Communications Hong Kong Limited ("Union Comm") proudly contributed to the success of the “Smart Living Experience Day,” an initiative hosted by Long Caring Charitable Foundation and other organizations to promote digital inclusion among senior citizens in Hong Kong.

Held at the Lung Hang Community Hall in Sha Tin, the event welcomed close to 200 elderly participants, with the presence of district councillors and government representatives, demonstrating cross-sector support for building an inclusive digital society.
Participants received hands-on training in using “Elderly Mode” on its mobile app. The training focused on practical digital skills, including enlarged fonts, simplified navigation, voice search, secure online shopping, fingerprint unlocking, and essential anti-fraud awareness. Elderly citizens were guided in small groups by trained volunteers, enabling them to practice each step confidently in a supportive environment.

As one of the cities with the longest life expectancy globally, Hong Kong is facing rapid population ageing. According to official data, over 20% of Hong Kong’s population is aged 65 or above, and this is projected to rise to one-third by 2046. Yet digital capacity remains a major gap: many elderly people struggle with smartphone functions for daily transactions, while some have experienced online scams or difficulties using digital tools. This event aimed to directly address such pain points by empowering the elderly with practical knowledge and digital confidence.
Union Comm provided full communications support throughout the event — including pre-event planning, media coordination, on-site management, and post-event publicity content. As a committed advocate for digital inclusion, Union Comm continues to help bridge the digital divide by connecting brands, communities, and underserved groups through strategic storytelling and social impact campaigns.
The event also served as a platform to gather insights into the digital needs and challenges faced by elderly citizens, contributing to the future design of inclusive digital empowerment programs across Hong Kong.
